What is the difference between brass and antique brass?
Antique brass is treated to appear aged; its typically a rich, deep brown shade with golden undertones. This warm, low-luster finish is most similar to natural brass but will not tarnish or patina.
Does a magnet stick to bronze or brass?
Magnetic. Because copper and bronze are not magnetic with even the strongest magnets, you can narrow down your options. Keep in mind that while brass is magnetic, it is very slight. If you take a very heavy-duty magnet and hold it close to a brass object, chances are the object will attract the magnet.
What does shiny brass look like?
Clean brass has a bright, golden brown appearance. The most similar metals in appearance are copper, which is brown or pink-brown, and bronze, which is a much darker brown. If a small magnet sticks firmly to the surface, you probably have an object made from a different metal, then plated with a thin layer of brass.
