Question: Do caravans need electric hook up?

Most caravans, motorhomes and folding campers have electrical equipment fitted by design. If you are bringing electricity into a tent you will need to buy a special hook-up lead with two or more damp-proof sockets, each of which will take ordinary 13A plug, as you would use at home.

How do you get power to a caravan?

Depending on its capacity, a generator should supply all your caravan power needs. Most portable caravan generators produce 240 volts of power by connecting a petrol or diesel engine to an alternator; to power sensitive appliances such as computers or phones, youll need a sine-wave inverter generator.

What runs off 12V in a caravan?

The 12v system runs all low wattage items such as water pumps, strip lights etc. A battery is used for the 12v system. If a power cut occurred you will still have lights and water.

Should you disconnect caravan battery when not in use?

Our advice is to remove your battery from your caravan when you lay up your caravan. Make sure you keep it charged over the winter to ensure it is in good condition next time you want it. When removing your battery always disconnect the negative lead first (black) and then the positive lead.
