Question: What happens when you graduate from West Point?

Upon graduation, you will be commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Army. You must serve a minimum of eight years after you graduate in a combination of Active Duty and Reserve Component Service. During your senior year, youll find out which specialized field, or “branch,” you will enter.

Do students at West Point get paid?

The Military Academy does not require the financial investment of most other colleges, since students dont have to pay for tuition or room and board. Further, cadets earn a monthly stipend during their time in school. In 2014, this stipend was set at $900 and increased each year.

Can West Point graduates join the airforce?

Yes, all graduates from West Point join the Army, since West Point is the military academy for the Army. The Air Force and the Navy have their own academies.
